La Brioche Patisseries is a family-owned bakery started in 2014 by two sisters and their mother with the goal of creating French pastries with influences from all over the world. One of the sisters, Alejandra, is a skilled pastry chef who studied at The French Pastry School in Chicago, as well as under several master bakers and world-renowned pastry chefs.

Once you walk into it, the bakery sets your senses alive. The wonderful aromas combine with the visual element of all of the delightful pastries in their glass display cases. Specialties include fresh French macarons, crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle, and petits gateaux, which are tiny homemade cakes that look almost too good to eat. You can also purchase coffee to go with your croissants or baked goods, including a variety of intriguing flavors such as iced Nutella mocha.

La Brioche Patisserie is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.

Location: Cultivation Food Hall, 1200 Eastover Drive, Jackson

Broad Street Baking Company & Cafe

Broad Street Baking Company & Cafe carries on the tradition of Blumenthal’s Bakery, which was a popular Trenton, New Jersey, bakery for decades. Sol Blumenthal’s grandson, Dan Blumenthal, along with business partner Jeff Good, opened BSBC in 1998 as a tribute to Sol’s legacy. Founded on the legacy of artisan bakers, who focus on hand-crafted specialties using only the most basic ingredients, this traditional bakery creates everything from scratch. The bakery produces its artisan breads with all-natural ingredients, including stone-ground flour, and leaves out additives and preservatives.

BSBC features a large variety of homemade breads such as focaccia, New York rye, and multi-grain whole wheat choices. They also create many pastries, cookies, cakes, and other desserts. In addition to their bakery, Broad Street Baking Company has a cafe where they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The deli sandwiches, pasta, and pizza are all tempting choices.

Locals consider BSBC an essential part of the community due to the great customer service and affordable prices, as well as the many delicious baked goods. Their cheesecake is highly recommended, and be sure to try the oatmeal raisin cookies too. Gluten-free bread options are available for those with dietary restrictions. Coffee drinks are available to pair with your sweets, such as iced caramel latte with almond milk.

Broad Street Baking Company & Cafe is open Sunday to Monday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Campbell’s Bakery

Mitchell and Natalie Moore have owned Campbell’s Bakery since 2011, although the original bakery was founded in 1962. Pastry Chef Mitchell delights in bringing Campbell’s back to its made-from-scratch roots, and the shop’s specialty is the iced teacakes made with Mr. Campbell’s original recipe that’s over 50 years old. Today, the bakery also offers cakes, cookies, pies, brownies, and an endless supply of sweets made from scratch in-house.

If it’s your first time visiting Campbell’s Bakery, be sure to try the famous teacakes. Also sample the amazing chess squares, the cupcakes with homemade buttercream frosting, or the homemade pop-tarts or ice-cream-sandwich cookies. Best of all, first-time visitors get a free cookie at Campbell’s.

Campbell’s Bakery makes custom cake orders with either buttercream or fondant frosting. For special events, you can order the incredible dessert board, which is like a deli’s charcuterie board that features a huge selection of pastries instead of cold cuts. Campbell’s Bakery is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The bakery is closed on Sundays.

Location: Campbell’s Bakery is located in Fondren at 3013 N. State St., Jackson

Sugar Magnolia Takery

Another wonderful local bakery is Sugar Magnolia Takery which specializes in cookies, cakes, and casseroles you can take with you. The sweets are delectable, but the one thing you must try at Sugar Magnolia Takery is the bakery’s incomparable king cake. The chess squares are local favorites as well.

Sugar Magnolia Takery makes spectacular special-order cakes and adds impeccable touches like tiny, edible pearls dotting the icing flowers. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and truly cares for the customers. You’ll feel welcome upon walking into the bakery, and customers rave about the superior customer service almost as much as the tasty goods.

Sugar Magnolia Takery offers a large selection of carryout foods, including meals and casseroles. Try the mouth-watering chicken pot pie or the poppy seed chicken. Sugar Magnolia Takery is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.

Location: Sugar Magnolia Takery is located at 5417 MS-25 in Flowood, just 15 minutes northeast of Jackson

Meme’s Brick Street Bakery

Be sure to try the strawberry cupcakes, one of their specialties. Their friendly staff is happy to design custom treats, as well. If you’ve got small children, a wonderful birther party idea is a cupcake decorating party at Meme’s. Attendees decorate two cupcakes and decorators are on-hand to offer guidance and assistance to the little bakers.

The bakery is open Tuesday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
