How to Replace the INFINITI Key Fob Battery

When you purchase a luxurious new INFINITI to grace the Madison roadways, you’ll find that the vehicles come equipped with the INFINITI Intelligent Key and remote start options. However, what do you do if your INFINITI key battery dies? That is why Herrin-Gear INFINITI is offering you a guide to replace your INFINITI key fob battery, which can be done quick and easily.

What Battery Type Do You Need For An INFINITI Key Fob?

Before you start, you’ll want to make sure you have the right replacement battery on hand. The type of fob you have dictates what kind of battery you will need. A standard INFINITI Key Fob requires a CR2025 type battery, while key fobs that are designed to work with INFINITI Intelligent key require the CR2032 battery. If you visit our parts center, you can check to make sure you have the correct match for your INFINITI key battery for your model.

INFINITI Key Battery Replacement Steps

  1. Press the release tab on the back of your key fob to remove the metal car key.
  2. Once you have removed the metal key and the release tab, you will need to pry open the small panel that’s situated underneath. At this point, you should see the INFINITI key fob battery housing. We suggest using a flathead screwdriver with a small amount of tape on the end to avoid damaging your fob in the process.
  3. Replace the dead battery with a fresh one, making sure to position the positive side face-down in the fob.
  4. Reattach the small panel that you removed earlier in the process, and then reinsert the metal key along with the release tab. That’s it! You’re able to start driving near Brandon immediately.

INFINITI Key Fob Troubleshooting

If you notice a problem with your push-button start or your keyless entry remote, these tips and tricks can help you troubleshoot the problem:

  • If your vehicle isn’t starting, the battery in your key fob might be dying. Try holding the key fob closer to the start button to reduce the energy needed to send a signal until the battery can be replaced.
  • If you can’t start your car using push-button start, the problem could extend beyond your INFINITI key fob battery. Try replacing the INFINITI key battery first, but if that doesn’t solve the problem, you should contact our service department immediately to have your vehicle’s battery checked.
  • If your INFINITI key battery is dead, use the metal key in the back of your key fob as a back up to start your vehicle and lock/unlock the doors.
